The Stories

What you will see and hear in the car are stories inspired by material that was generated during a workshop carried out on January 20th, 2019. The workshop was in the context of the “Perform to Reform” Erasmus + project, and was attended by individuals, from all over Cyprus and abroad. The workshop was based on methodologies from collaborative dramaturgy, story-telling, improvisation, and devised methodologies. It was designed and coordinated by Ellada Evangelou and Maria Varnakkidou, in collaboration with ACCEPT LGBTI+ Cyprus, and the partner NGOs participating in the project.

The aim of the workshop was to reflect, as precisely as possible, the experience of the LGBTI+ community, both on the island and internationally. The experience was registered by individuals within the LGBTI+ community and others, such as artists and activists, during the workshop.

In the second stage of writing the scenes, the dramaturge worked closely with the director, actors and LGBTI+ community.

The Project:

The “Perform to Reform” project is an initiative by Stichting art.1 (Netherlands-based NGO) is funded under the Erasmus + Key Action 2. It is a collaboration between five organisations dealing with Human rights, LGBT+ issues, youth and arts: Stichting art.1 (Netherlands), Accept LGBTI (Cyprus), Legebitra (Slovenia), Helsinki Committee for Human Rights (Macedonia) and Omilos UNESCO Neon Thessalonikis (Greece). These NGOs bring together their shared knowledge and experience in order to equip youth workers with alternative tools with which to foster inclusion and acceptance among a younger demographic.

The P2R project seeks to develop new performing arts and soft skill methodologies to address sexual diversity topics and to create powerful and adaptable techniques for youth workers and educators.
