DISCUSSION: Constitutional Changes
Dear Accept members,
It has been a long time since October 2010, when we submitted the Constitution for the founding of Accept for approval to the Ministry of Interior. A lot have since changed in the Cypriot society, along which we have matured and moved ahead, and we are proud that in the process of representing the LGBTI community our organisation has played an important role in these changes.
Since then, Accept has grown and extended the range of its activities managing to establish itself both in the conscience of the LGBTI community, as well as in the consciousness of the Cypriot society in general. We’ve increased our support and empowerment of our members, as well as the LGBT community in general, even more vigorously defending our rights on multiple levels, while we worked to promote the visibility of the community by organizing the First Pride Festival in Cyprus.
During the five years of operation of Accept, the structure of the organisation needed changes and the Management Board acknowledges that changes are also needed in our Constitution, to be updated and be consistent with our current activities.
Consequently, the Managing Board of Accept – LGBT Cyprus asks the members of the Organisation for their own suggestions for any changes they would like to propose changed in the Constitution. Contributions should be sent by 1 March 2015 via email to email@example.com.
Additionally, we invite all of our members in an informal, open discussion about the Constitution, on Thursday, February 19 2015, at 18.00, at the NGO Support Centre in Nicosia. The aim of the meeting is to discuss proposals before the Board establishes its proposals for submission for approval in the upcoming Constitutional Assembly of the Organisation, currently anticipated to take place on the 9th of March.
The day will be also an opportunity to get to know each other more and talk about the future of Accept, as envisioned by our members.
Your support to Accept in any way is invaluable.
The Management Board, Accept – LGBT Cyprus
