ILGA - Europe: Rainbow Map 2013

 To mark the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia (17 May), ILGA-Europe launches its Rainbow Europe package reviewing the human rights situation and assessing what life is like for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people in Europe in 2013. Once again Cyprus appears together in the group of countries at the bottom of the list of countries as far as LGBT rights are concerned, with total mark of barely 20%, putting Cyprus on the 34th position amongst 49 European countries.  Broken down to the different categories, Cyprus gets:

  • Respect of freedom of assembly, association & expression: 100%
  • Asylum: 25%
  • Legal Gender Recognition: 21%
  • Laws & Policies Agaist Discrimination 13%
  • Family Recognition: 8%
  • Protection Against hate speech/crime: 0%
